Solution Architecture

Architecture definition

Establishing the reference architecture for internet, intranet, and extranet platforms, and for telco and client-server environments. This work produces the technical blueprint against which subsequent build, integration, and operation activities are measured.

Platform and vendor selection

Comparative evaluation of competing hardware and software options against functional requirements, cost constraints, and operational considerations. Recommendations balance immediate delivery needs with longer-term maintenance and upgrade pathways.

Resilience and capacity planning

Designing redundancy into critical components and sizing capacity for anticipated load profiles, with consideration given to growth trajectories and peak-period demands.

Network architecture

Defining network topology, addressing schemes, and perimeter controls for multi-tier deployments. Where appropriate, separation between public-facing services and internal infrastructure is specified to support security objectives.

Transition planning

Producing migration or cutover plans that sequence decommissioning of legacy components alongside introduction of new systems, minimising service disruption during change.

Design documents

Delivering design documentation covering architecture diagrams, interface specifications, high level designs and operational run-books that enable subsequent teams to implement, operate, and hand over the solution without loss of institutional knowledge.

Infrastructure Delivery

Server provisioning

Full installation of server hardware and operating system, covering both physical build and software configuration. Platforms built include Red Hat Linux, Solaris, and Windows.

Server hardening

Bringing servers to a secure baseline: applying all outstanding patches, removing unnecessary software, remediating known vulnerabilities, and restricting default permissions.

Systems integration

Connecting front-end web servers to legacy back-end systems using middleware and purpose-written software, allowing older infrastructure to serve modern applications without replacement.

Advisory and Assurance

IT strategy definition

Production of a strategy document setting out a client's future technology direction, including the technologies under consideration and the associated threats and opportunities.

Project management

Planning and budget control, task management within a project, coordination of internal and external resources, and issue tracking.
